Mike Sheridan

At 17 years old, Mike Sheridan is without doubt one of the youngest established producers in denmark. Mike was born, it seems, only a few days ago, 1991 to be precise. When everybody else was playing with their toys, Mike, at the tender age of 9, is drawn to DJing and messing around with software on his computer. This evolves into the first productions over the next couple of years.Around his 13th birthday he is ambitiously on the path of becoming a musician, attending numerous music courses and schools. He is also acquiring a music taste of his own, breaking farther away from the humdrum of school life. His first “real” tracks, even in their early stages, showcased his undisputable talent. At the same time, teenage Mike is booked for his first DJ gigs, scratching and spinning at special ‘under 18’ events at world renowned VEGA club in Copenhagen. This evolves into the first productions over the next couple of years.

Around his 13th birthday he is ambitiously on the path of becoming a musician, attending numerous music courses and schools.

This is where he discover the power of entertaining, and not least his natural talent for reaching out and connecting with a crowd.

With this last important element in place, it would seem that young Mike, at the tender age of 13, now possessed the necessary tools, qualities, abilities and not least ambition to take on the world as an artist in his own right. But the one thing that was missing was a creative direction. This last piece of the puzzle came to him listening to national Danish radio’s weekly electronic radio show D’Store Mix. Week after week, Mike is drawn to the exciting sounds and concepts of the different genres presented to him by the nations leading house & techno dj’s.

Mike begins producing his first real Techno tracks. These early efforts are put on his website to very limited response. No one really take Mike serious, mostly due to his modest age. This all changes when he his consistently supporting father Jim booked him to play a live set at a future and technology fair. Coincidentally, respected DJ and producer DJ Lasse Lovelace walks by and is deeply impressed with not only the sound but also with the clean young face behind it. Without hesitation he reaches out to Mike and connects him with Danish Techno Label M.I.S.

Records home to some of the Denmarks most respected Techno producers and DJs, such as Kim Kemi, Amox, and Lasse Lovelace himself . The label is quick to recognize the magnitude of Mike’s talent and sign him on the spot, thus making Mike Sheridan one of the youngest recording artists in Techno history.

Around the same time Mike meets Denmarks most famous producer Anders Trentemøller who, already familiar with Mike’s productions, gives him some production advice.

Another stand-out moment in this early stage of his growing career, Mike Sheridan is now a name flying around the electronic scene, and at one point it ends up with the radio that so heavily inspired Mike.

Only now the table has turned, as Martin Rostbøll, executive producer of live radio shows and the man behind the label Radio Recordings at Denmark’s Radio, approaches to get a track for the next issue of the respected Radio Recordings Compilations, based purely on Danish underground producers.

As Mike turn 15 he arrives at what he describes as his most exciting year to this day. He release his first record “Alt & Intet” on M.I.S and “Radiotårnet er Højere end man Tror” on Radio Recordings 4 and both releases elevates him into the role of a serious artist on the local Danish scene he just a over year earlier decided he wanted to be a part of. Shortly after, he is recognized by the industry and users of “Housemusik.dk”, one of Denmark’s leading forums for DJ’s, producers and clubbers, as he is nominated for and wins the award for “Best New Artist 2007”. On the night of the award show, young Mike is accompanied by his parents, not only because they from the beginning have supported and loyally followed their clearly talented son, but also because, according to Danish law, at 15 you are not allowed inside any nightclubs unless in the company of an adult.

This also means that Mike is not allowed the complimentary Champagne that goes with the prize and honour, Mike was instead given a big bottle of Coca Cola, much to the amusement of the crowd and Mike himself. Now regularly spoken of as ‘the new hope’ & ‘the next Trentemøller’ and not surprisingly, with the critically successful releases doing the rounds and the recognition from his peers and from consumers, interest and demand for Mike Sheridan explodes, catapulting his schedule from a modest 4 gigs in 2006 to almost 100 gigs in 2007, including a visit to the respected “Watergate” club in Berlin.

Mike has played side by side with: Radio Slave, Kenneth Bager, Djuma Soundsystem, T.O.M. & Trentemøller, P.Toile, Flip, Audiojack, Dimitri From Paris, TTC, and Joris Voon. At fashion parties and shows, at art museums, on the beach in Barcelona during Sonar 2007, and at most of the top 10 biggest parties/festivals in Denmark including: Raw, Present Århus in Ridehuset, Green Beats, Distortion, Public Service Festival and Roskilde Festival.

Though Mike Sheridan is still 16 years old, be not mistaken, he is already an artist who know what he wants and where he wants to take it. His debut album has just been releashed - To be continued
