Sharam Jey's roots may be in soul music but he gained stage experience as a singer for a
rockband. At the same time his Dj'ing skills became hugely popular on the party scene
and among his friends. His Dj'ing started out as a part-time gig but soon turned into a
passion when Sharam discovered his love for house & techno in the early 90s.
His name has become an international synonym for music that just can't be categorized.
Uplifting Funky sounds? Grooving Minimal tracks? Breax? Electroclash and Rocking tunes
Narrow, departmental thinking is definitely not Sharam's thing.
As a DJ he soon learned which tracks are guaranteed to really set the dance floor on
fire. This knowledge resulted in the first remixes and other own productions in the mid-90's
that were very well received by both clubbers and critics.
After his remix of Cafè Del Mar`s "Energy 52" was voted "Best Dance Track Of All Time"
(Mixmag), Sharam went on to remix the likes of Moby, Mylo, Faith No More, Faithless, Salt
N Peppa, Warren G., Shiny Toy Guns and loads more. This is in addition to over 50 own
releases on labels like Underwater Records Hooj Choons, Airtight and many more…
In early 2001 he decided to create his own platform for his music - King Kong Records. His
motto is: No compromises! With his own label, Sharam Jey can finally realize all his ideas
and dreams - from sound to art work right thru to packaging...
His debut artist album "4 Da Loverz" was released worldwide on Underwater Records in
2005. It raised amazing critics and even got him on the cover of famous DJ Mag. That
same year a successful compilation "Episode 04" with Darren Emerson, head of
Underwater Records, was published.
End of 2006 another strong compilation release was issued to accompany his Australia
tour called Kink Vol. 2 out on EMI Australia/Ministry Of Sound.
In 2007 King Kong Records celebrated its 5th anniversary with the very first double cdcompilation
"5 Years: Of King Kong Records". This was accompanied by a huge world
tour that led Sharam through all continents. End of 2007 the 4th single from the "4 Da
Loverz" - album called "Message To Love" which features remixes by The Glimmers, Kaos,
Alex Metric and the LouLou Players was released. 2008 was yet another huge year for
King Kong records as we are releasing some Sharam Jey classics, remixed by some huge
names and friends like Phonique, Darko Esser, Zoo Brazil and Martin Buttrich.
But the highlight will definitely be the release of Sharam's second artist album in 2009. It
will feature guest appearances by Princess Superstar, Tommie Sunshine, Brixx, Dacia
Bridges, Los Valentinos and Cornelia.
