After the phenomenon of Guitar Hero, Activision Blizzard and Freestyle games have taken the game music genre to club land with DJ Hero.
DJ Hero encompasses a wide variety of musical genres allowing the player to remix 2 songs that have been mixed exclusively for the game.  The development and music teams needed to consider many points whilst working on the game including the cultural differences in DJ culture.  The session will explore the decisions made in how music was going to be used in-game, how the DJ's and the music was selected for the game.
Challenges such as acquiring the rights to mash up records and the creative process in mixing the right records to create the best game play will be covered.
DJ Hero promises to bring DJ culture to the living room and, as its predecessor has done with Rock, will open up new audiences to a bigger variety of music. With downloadable content planned, the journey form vinyl to console has just begun!
